Life is not always cake and cookies: Maintain a positive mental attitude

Updated: May 4, 2023

My mission is to help you grow and get better. At what ever that means to you. I write about doing good things and all the good things that are to come. I am not nieve to the fact that things don't always go according to plan. Times can get difficult. Sometimes really difficult. Here we will discuss this. The goal is make it not so bad when it goes down.

Bad things happen to good people all the time and ultimately things are unfair. Staying positive through difficult times may seem impossible when there is nothing to be positive about. You’re allowed to take time to deal with negativity but you can’t hang out there. What happens after you have dealt with the bad is what makes you who you are. Changing how you think and how you can handle thoughts is possible.

You can’t help the negative thoughts that come into your mind. Having a positive mental attitude can be difficult at times when things aren’t going your way. The same mind that brought that thought in can take it out. You choose to believe the negative. When a negative thought comes in it’s because you are leaning toward the negative, chose not to do this. Because you believe in the negative you will tend to want the negative to be true, so it happens.

Things might not be great now, but it isn’t too late to change your mindset to focus on the positive of the situations. If you only look at the negative, you will start to only see the negative, and then your thoughts will be around only the bad things that could happen. So, in that sense the opposite is true.

Don’t believe the hype! Negative thoughts don’t need to be believed.

When you shift your mindset toward the positive you will start to lean toward the positive which is a way more productive path. This a simple trick to do when you encounter self-imposed or environmental negativity. Take a second and shift thought, “Yes that negative thing could happen, but what if it doesn’t it could also work in my favor. Let’s give it a shot!”

You just can’t wake up one day and change your mind. A couple of principles will lead to a positive mental attitude that works together. Changing your mindset, having a little faith, and having a positive mental attitude will lead to the paradigm shift required to maintain a positive mental attitude.

Having a positive mental attitude (PMA) means having a mindset that is focused on finding and maximizing the good in every situation, rather than dwelling on the negative. It involves a belief in one's ability to achieve goals, an optimistic outlook on life, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances with a positive attitude.

Maintaining a consistent positive mental attitude will help when times are tough and it will help you get through those times faster. Changing our mindset is a powerful tool that can help us overcome limitations and achieve our goals. By turning to concepts such as faith, a positive mental attitude, and paradigm shift, we can develop a more positive and expansive mindset that can help us thrive in all areas of our lives.

Our mindset is the lens through which we perceive the world. It shapes our beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors, and influences the way we approach problems and interact with others. However, sometimes our mindset can become limiting, preventing us from seeing new opportunities and growth. To overcome these limitations, we can turn to concepts such as faith, a positive mental attitude, and a paradigm shift.

Faith can provide us with a sense of purpose and hope, even in the face of adversity. Believing in something greater than ourselves can help us maintain a positive outlook on life and stay focused on our goals. Faith communities can also provide us with a sense of belonging and support, which can help us maintain a positive mental attitude and stay connected with others. If you are tending in the right direction you need to trust yourself. Know that the actions you are taking are right and you are moving in the right direction. This is called faith. Something that hasn’t happened yet, and you seemingly have no control over the outcome. Except for the actions you are taking. This concept is hard to take in because of the “no control” part.

A positive mental attitude can also help us overcome challenges and achieve our goals. By focusing on the positive aspects of our lives, we can cultivate a sense of gratitude and optimism, which can improve our mental and physical health. Strategies such as mindfulness, positive self-talk, and seeking out positive experiences can help us maintain a positive mental attitude.

Finally, the paradigm shift. This can help us expand our perspectives and see new opportunities for growth and development. By questioning our assumptions and beliefs, we can challenge our existing mindset and explore new ways of thinking. This process can be challenging, but it can also lead to new insights, discoveries, and opportunities for growth and development.

Faith, a positive mental attitude, and a paradigm shift are powerful tools that can help us change our mindset and overcome limitations. By cultivating a sense of purpose, hope, and optimism, we can develop greater resilience and adaptability, which can help us cope with challenges and setbacks. By expanding our perspectives, we can develop greater empathy, compassion, and understanding for others, which can improve our relationships and increase our overall sense of well-being. And by questioning our assumptions and beliefs, we can discover new opportunities and solutions to problems that we may have previously overlooked.

Maintaining a positive mental attitude is a process that requires practice and effort. However, with consistent effort and these strategies, you can train your mind to focus on the positive and maintain a positive outlook on life.

Here are some strategies that can help you maintain a positive mental attitude:

  1. Practice Gratitude: Take time to reflect on the good things in your life and be thankful for them. Make a habit of listing three things you are grateful for each day.

  2. Focus on Solutions: When faced with a problem, try to focus on finding a solution instead of dwelling on the problem. Break down the problem into smaller, more manageable steps and work on them one at a time.

  3. Surround Yourself with Positivity: Surround yourself with the people who you want to be like. Immerse yourself in books and grow toward how you want to see yourself.

  4. Practice Self-Care: Take care of yourself physically and mentally. Exercise regularly, eat healthy foods, get enough sleep, and practice relaxation techniques such as meditation or deep breathing.

  5. Challenge Negative Thoughts: When you notice negative thoughts creeping in, challenge them. Ask yourself if they are really true and if there is another way to look at the situation.

  6. Set Goals: Set realistic, achievable goals for yourself and work towards them. Having something to strive for can give you a sense of purpose and help you stay motivated.
