Mickie Mouse never had a bad day: The Disney Experience

Updated: Oct 16, 2023

Imagine with me for a moment one of the most anticipated vacations to date. Your children are really into Mickie Mouse and Disney. You and your wife are big fans of warm weather and making your kid's dreams come true. Your family has never been to Florida or Disney and that is all they talk about. You give in and you have promised your children to take them to Disney. For the last year and a half, you have been saving and planning the big trip.

Booking flights and rooms, planning what rides to go on, attractions to see, and of course when to see Mickie! The flight is tough with young children, but it will all be worth it in the end. After you get a car after you check in to the hotel, after dinner, and after a long day, you have made it to your destination. Tomorrow is the big day that your children have been talking about for months.

The next morning you make through the park on your way to the magic kingdom. Of course, stopping to by what seemingly looks like everything in sight, you make it.

After waiting in line for 2 hours you and your family finally get to meet Mickie Mouse! Went they walk up to greet Mickie; he doesn’t greet back. He didn’t kneel for the picture but just kind of stood there and didn’t wave. No big hug, no excitement. He really didn’t move at all. After the picture, you were hurried along and out to make way for the next family? Odd your kids didn’t mind it seems, but you stuck explaining, “well maybe Mickie just wasn’t feeling it today and is just having a bad day”?

Really after all the planning and spending time, you came there for that? Nah this really did not happen because Mickie doesn’t have a bad day.

You only get one shot to make a first impression. You spend all your time talking to different people about the same thing and it gets repetitive and boring. The other side of this is your customer is only hearing for the first time. If you sound bored or are not excited about what you have to say, why should they be?

Your first time you speak to someone should sound and feel like the 1000th person you are talking to.
