Unlocking the Power of Your Subconscious Mind

Updated: Dec 5, 2023

There is a person inside my head.

And he is much smarter than me.  Or maybe a team of little people.  Disney movie?
I can imagine an office setting or maybe a small country cabin with a fire in The background.  Old wooden desk and there is a guy with a heavy sweater writing and crafting the most perfect message.  Almost speaking for me.  Well it isn’t me, I have no control over the message. I don’t know when the answer will come but it does and it doesn’t always translate from what I heard.

Ideas just pop into my mind.  I don’t think that I am smarter or better than anyone and at times very, very dumb but the people hanging out in my mind are smart. I send them a task and seemingly come back with an answer pretty quickly.  Sometimes it takes a couple of days but the answer comes. The key is giving them a task.

I send the task they come up with an answer and they are brilliant!

I'm not the only one who has thought of this idea. I would have claimed to. I did however come to this realization and then have it confirmed but some men that have had this figured out many, many moons ago. Thomas Edison and Napoleon Hill after that.

The quote "Never go to bed without a request to your subconscious" is often attributed to Thomas Edison, the famous inventor, and businessman. He believed that the subconscious mind could help solve problems and generate creative ideas while one sleeps, and recommended that people use this process to their advantage by thinking about a particular problem or question before going to bed so that the subconscious mind can work on it during the night.

It's not known exactly when he stated this but the fact remains that the lesson has been tested through the rest of time.

How to make requests to your subconscious

There are several methods that one can use to make requests of the subconscious mind. Here are a few:

1. Visualization: One way to communicate with the subconscious mind is through visualization. Visualize the desired outcome or goal as if it has already happened. This helps the subconscious mind to work towards visualization and bring it into reality.

2. Affirmations: Repeating positive affirmations to yourself can help program your subconscious mind to believe in the affirmation and bring it into reality. For example, if you want to be more confident, you could repeat affirmations such as "I am confident" or "I radiate confidence".

3. Journaling: Writing down your thoughts and goals in a journal before going to bed can help the subconscious mind to process them while you sleep. It can also help you gain clarity and focus on what you want to achieve.

4. Meditation: Practicing meditation can help calm the mind and allow the subconscious to be more accessible. During meditation, you can focus on your goals or desires and allow your subconscious mind to work on them.

5. Auto-suggestion: This technique involves repeating a suggestion or request to oneself repeatedly until it becomes a part of the subconscious mind. This method is similar to affirmations, but it is more specific and can be used to program the subconscious mind for a particular goal or desire.

There is no quick fix

Keep in mind that these techniques may not work overnight, but with consistent practice and repetition, they can help to make requests of the subconscious mind and bring about positive changes in one's life.

It takes self-discipline and practice to stick with the practice. Without the practice of asking your subconscious team to come up with answers, you will lose sight of the task. Self-discipline is an important aspect of personal growth and achieving one's goals.

Here are some ways to improve self-discipline:

Set clear goals: Identity specific, measurable, and achievable goals that are important to you. Having a clear understanding of what you want to achieve can help you stay motivated and focused on your actions.

Develop a routine: Establish a daily routine that includes time for exercise, healthy eating, work, and leisure activities. Sticking to a routine can help you develop good habits and create a sense of structure and discipline in your life.

Practice mindfulness: Mindfulness practices such as meditation and deep breathing can help you stay present at the moment and develop greater awareness of your thoughts and emotions. This can help you make better decisions and avoid impulsive actions.

Use positive affirmations: Repeat positive affirmations to yourself regularly to reinforce positive beliefs and attitudes about yourself. This can help build self-confidence and reinforce your commitment to achieving your goals.

Hold yourself accountable: Take responsibility for your actions and hold yourself accountable for your progress towards your goals. This can involve tracking your progress, seeking feedback from others, and setting consequences for not following through on commitments.

Practice delayed gratification: Learn to delay gratification by putting off immediate rewards for greater long-term benefits. This can involve making sacrifices in the short term to achieve long-term goals.

Eliminate distractions: Identify and eliminate distractions that may be interfering with your self-discipline, such as social media, television, or other time-wasting activities.

Remember that building self-discipline is a gradual process and requires consistent effort over time. By implementing these strategies, you can strengthen your self-discipline and achieve greater success in your personal and professional life.

Conscience and Subconscious Mind.

The conscious and subconscious minds are both important parts of our overall mental functioning, but they differ in terms of their level of awareness, control, and processing capacity.

The conscious mind is part of our mind that is responsible for our awareness of the world around us, as well as our immediate thoughts and perceptions. It is part of the mind that we use when we are awake and alert, and it is where our focus and attention is directed. The conscious mind is also responsible for making decisions and taking action based on our current thoughts and circumstances.

The subconscious mind, on the other hand, is part of our mind that operates below our level of awareness. It is responsible for processing a vast amount of information and stimuli that we are not consciously aware of, such as our emotions, habits, beliefs, and memories. The subconscious mind also plays a key role in controlling our automatic bodily functions, such as breathing and digestion.

While the conscious mind is limited in terms of its processing capacity and control, the subconscious mind is much more powerful and influential. It is responsible for shaping our beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors, and can be influenced by our thoughts and experiences on a deep level.

The conscious mind is part of our mind that we are aware of and have direct control over, while the subconscious mind operates below the surface and influences our thoughts and actions in powerful ways. Understanding and harnessing the power of the subconscious mind can help us achieve our goals and transform our lives for the better.
